This webinar can be self-reported for one free general hour of LEED, WELL, and/or AIA continuing education.
Wildfires and wildland urban interface (WUI) fires pose significant risks to indoor air quality, building operations, and occupant health. This webinar equips green building professionals with the critical knowledge and tools needed to mitigate these impacts.
Participants will explore how wildfire smoke infiltrates buildings, affects HVAC systems, and compromises indoor environmental quality. The session will also address health risks for occupants, providing science-based strategies to minimize exposure and enhance air quality management.
Attendees will gain practical insights into improving facility preparedness, upgrading filtration and monitoring systems, and maintaining healthier indoor environments during wildfire events.
What You Will Learn:
- Define public health risks posed by WUI fires.
- Summarize preparation strategies that can be implemented before a wildland urban interface fire occurs.
- Describe strategies for mitigating harmful effects to indoor air quality during and after a fire.
- Identify best practices for cleanup after a fire occurs.
