There’s great news for sustainability and energy renewal in the residential market according to findings from the American Institute of Architects? (AIA) Home Design Trends survey. Homeowners are continuing to invest in home features that make homes more energy efficient, including a significant increase in energy management systems and technologies.

?Automation is on its way to becoming standard functionality within homes as there are systems available to regulate temperature, lighting, home audio and energy usage,? said AIA Chief Economist Kermit Baker, PhD, Hon. AIA.

Products and systems that promote energy saving solutions such as smart thermostats, extra insulation, and tankless water heaters continue to grow in popularity. Energy management systems saw an increase in activity in the second quarter of 2015, growing to 62 percent compared to 54 percent in 2014.
