More and more we hear of environmental initiatives or green programs or sustainable building design. Many people put all theseprograms into the same bucket. Interest in such programs certainly seems to be increasing. We read more about it in the industry trade publications, we hear owners, architects and engineers speak about them, and numerous groups have developed publications to help us begreen or design sustainable buildings. This presentation looks at some of the reasons for this interest, then conc entrates on one-the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design, or LEED, program. Interspersed w ith LEED information are methods by which HVAC Systems can meet prerequisites or achieve credits in the Water Efficiency, Atmosphe re & Energy, and Indoor Environmental Quality sections. The course gives many options and technologies that can be used to help a building be more sustainable, and shares energy saving ranges for application of these technologies in a number of locations
