Making a home more efficient and environmentally friendly has become a hot topic for architects, builders, homeowners and the government. Building codes are being reviewed and updated to improve minimum efficiency standards. Propane gas applications in the ho me are energy efficient, economical to operate and have a low environmental impact. Using propane gas as the primary energy sourc e can help in both green home design programs and to earn tax incentives for new and existing homes. This learning unit will touc h on whe re propane can be used in residential buildings, how incorporation of propane appliances and systems can contribute to gr een buildin g rating systems, and available tax and other incentives associated with propane appliances and systems. This on-deman d, onl ine course is self-paced and features a pre-recorded narrative. The narration serves as the instructor; learners can read a long with the narrator and view the screen at the same time, similar to typical live instruction. After completing the course lea rners must t ake a 10-question quiz; at least 8 of 10 questions must be answered correctly to earn credit for the learning unit. S tart-to-finisht his course should take between 50 and 60 minutes to complete. A certificate of completion can be printed for self- reporting and reco rd-keeping needs. No prerequisite knowledge is required, but basic familiarity with the LEED Rating Systems wil l be beneficial.
