This 1 hour course for architects, contractors, planners, engineers, specifiers and residential builders provides an overview of the design elements, components, and construction techniques that characterize sustainable masonry building envelopes. No prerequisiteknowledge required to take this course. Once finished the reader should be able to state the LEEDr guidelines that help in the design of sustainable building envelopes; define the basics of the #cradle-to-cradle# philosophy in order to specify processes and materials that support this design approach; describe the appropriate materials/construction techniques necessary to design sustainable masonry envelopes; and explain and avoid poor design and detailing techniques that can lead to masonry envelope failure. A ten question quiz follows the course.
