What’s your timeline for earning LEED certification for your project? Before Greenbuild in November? Before the end of the year?
USGBC has published on its website the deadlines for each important step in certification.
Here is a summary:
Regular Review Timeline before Greenbuild (Nov. 18, 2015)
- Aug. 13, 2015, 9 a.m. ET: Standard and Construction PRELIMINARY reviews
- Oct. 16, 2015, 9 a.m. ET: Standard and Construction FINAL reviews
Regular review timelines include 25 business days after the preliminary review is returned for project teams to prepare clarifications and submit for final review. Expedited review timelines assume 5 business days for the same.

- Sept. 21, 2015, 9 a.m. ET: Standard and Construction PRELIMINARY reviews
- Nov. 23, 2015, 9 a.m. ET: Standard and Construction FINAL reviews
These timelines include a two-business day buffer for the Thanksgiving holiday (USGBC is closed). Additionally, USGBC is closed from Dec. 25, 2015, through Jan. 1, 2016.
Expedited Review Timeline before Greenbuild (Nov. 18, 2015)
- Oct. 9, 2015, 9 a.m. ET: Expedited Standard and Expedited Construction PRELIMINARY reviews.
- Oct. 30, 2015, 9 a.m. ET: Expedited Standard and Expedited Construction FINAL reviews.
There is an expedited surcharge of $10,000 for the Standard preliminary review and an expedited surcharge of $5,000 for the Construction preliminary review. There is no additional charge for final reviews.

Held in Washington, D.C., Nov. 18-20, 2015, Greenbuild will feature three days of speakers, networking opportunities, showcases, LEED workshops and tours of green buildings.
